Field Maintenance Engineer – Medical Lasers

London & South – extensive travel required

With over 30 years' experience and a team of highly trained engineers, sk:n technical is one of the UK’s leading national providers of medical and cosmetic laser servicing. We maintain and repair an extensive range of lasers and associated cooling equipment sourced from various manufacturers and aim to ensure minimum disruption to our clients.

We are now recruiting for a Field Maintenance Engineer to join our team, on a permanent, full time basis.

You will ideally come from a service background with qualifications and experience of high tech electronics and lasers, keen to develop your career within a new sector.

This role will cover our London & South clinics, however on occasion travel nationwide or to the service centre in Birmingham will be required and overnight stays where necessary.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repair, test, calibrate and install laser systems and sub-assemblies
  • Communicate with manager any potential problems that could affect timely completion of assigned tasks, equipment shortcomings, and more complex equipment problems
  • Maintain complete and accurate service records
  • Provide on and off-site technical support to clinics as required
  • Completion of tasks as assigned by management
  • Work on a rota basis to provide telephone advice to clients at weekends
  • Other duties and responsibilities as directed by manager

Critical Competencies:

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems using schematic diagrams
  • Be able to work methodically to identify faults
  • Adopt safe working practices in line with company guidelines and safety procedures
  • Advise manager of any shortcomings in Health and Safety identified in the course of daily work
  • Familiarity with computer packages
  • Continually develop positive relations and communication with clients and team.
  • Continually develop knowledge of laser equipment.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures for expenses, purchases and ordering of spare parts
  • Full driving licence

Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Associates degree in electronics or physics or equivalent experience preferred
  • 2-3 years related field service experience in medical electronics, laser equipment or similar field i.e electronics/laser engineering in the armed forces


  • Experience of working with solid-state flash lamp excited Laser technology.


  • Salary of £37-42k per annum DOE.
